Frequently Asked Questions
My B420DN's prints have gone faint. Is it the toner or something else?
Fading that spreads evenly across the page is the classic low-toner signature — the 43979101 is running dry. Pull it out and rock it gently side to side; if density returns, you have some pages left. Fading that affects only one strip of the page, or prints that come out light straight after a fresh cartridge goes in, points away from toner and toward the printer itself.
What about spots and repeating marks down the page?
Random light patches usually clear with the rock-and-reseat routine, because they come from toner settling unevenly. A mark that repeats at the same interval on page after page is a different story — that rhythm comes from a rotating part, not from toner supply. Swap in a known-good cartridge if you have one: if the mark survives the swap, the cartridge was never the problem.
How far does one cartridge go in a B420DN?
It is rated at up to 3,500 pages at the standard 5% coverage basis. On a networked machine like the B420DN, think in team terms: at a combined 50 pages a day, one cartridge covers about 70 working days; at 150 pages a day, roughly a month. Heavy text documents shorten those spans, light memos stretch them.
What is the per-page cost for our records?
$27.70 for 3,500 rated pages works out to approximately 0.79 cents per page — call it $7.91 per thousand pages for budgeting. For a shared B420DN, that is a tidy number to hand to whoever tracks office expenses: toner spend per quarter is just pages printed times 0.79 cents.
Is this the original Oki cartridge?
No. This is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the 43979101 specification — the cartridge the B420DN takes — produced to deliver the same rated yield at a lower price. It is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns; the full policy is on our shipping & returns page.
How fast can we replace a cartridge in an emergency?
We ship from four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — and send your order from the closest one, so emergency replacements travel the shortest distance. Smarter still: keep one sealed 43979101 beside the printer. It stores fine for extended periods in a cool, dry spot, and a two-minute swap beats any delivery time.
