Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this sold as a pair?

Because black toner rarely runs out at a convenient moment. This pack holds two Q7551A cartridges, each rated at 6,500 pages: one goes in the printer, the second waits sealed in the cupboard. When the fitted cartridge fades mid-job, the swap takes minutes, not days.

Can I put one cartridge in each of two printers instead?

You can. Both units are identical Q7551A supplies, so the pair divides cleanly between two machines of the LaserJet P3005 family — one for the busy shared printer, one for the quieter office down the hall. Neither needs any adjustment; each runs the cartridge it is given until done.

Does the spare lose quality while it waits its turn?

No. Inside its sealed bag the toner stays dry and ready. Keep the box flat somewhere cool, out of direct sunlight, and rock the cartridge gently before fitting. A spare stored for months prints with day-one density.

How will I know when the first cartridge is truly finished?

Watch the output, not just the warning message — the low-toner alert is only an estimate. Real exhaustion shows as even, overall fading: gray text, pale logos, weak solid areas. Rocking the cartridge recovers a few dozen pages, but once fade returns, the cartridge has given all it has.

Does a compatible cartridge change how the printer behaves day to day?

No — same tray handling, same speeds, same menus. This Q7551A follows the same physical pattern as the cartridge it replaces, so it seats the same way and the machine gets on with printing. The difference shows on the invoice, not the page.

What protection do I have if a cartridge in the pack disappoints?

Both cartridges carry a 1-year warranty together with 1-year free returns, set out on our shipping and returns page. The pair costs $72.02, and orders leave from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California. Support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This HP 51A Black 2 Pack

At $72.02, this two-cartridge pack of compatible Q7551A toner is built around one idea: the second cartridge is insurance. Each unit is rated at 6,500 pages, and together they keep a LaserJet P3005 printing through a long stretch of invoices and reports without a gap. Fit one, shelve one — or run one in each of two printers. Part of our HP toner range, it is sized for the small office that prints too much to risk running dry.

The 51A (Q7551A) fits LaserJet P3005n, LaserJet P3005x, LaserJet P3005, LaserJet P3005d and LaserJet P3005dn — the whole platform shares the one cartridge. Round out the picture with the 51A (Q7551A) single cartridge and the high-yield 51X (Q7551X) single cartridge, both listed for this platform.
