Frequently Asked Questions

What comes in this set?

Four sealed cartridges for the CM3530fs MFP: CE250A black, CE251A cyan, CE252A yellow and CE253A magenta — the complete 504A row, at $125.76. This listing is the Color Laserjet-named line for the same fs machine, and the set covers its print and copy work end to end.

Our fs mostly receives faxes and copies forms. Which cartridge matters most?

The black. Faxes print only in black, and form copies are overwhelmingly text, so the CE250A and its 5,000-page rating set the rhythm for this machine. The colors — CE251A, CE252A and CE253A, each rated at 7,000 pages — tick over slowly in the background of that workload.

How do I keep a fax machine from ever running dry?

Keep this full set in the cabinet, not just a black. A fax that arrives at 2 AM prints without asking anyone, and the morning discovery of a blank page stack is the failure mode to avoid. With the whole row in reserve, whichever cartridge the night shift used up is a two-minute morning fix.

Do the color cartridges age out sitting unused?

Sealed, no — they keep their full life in the box. Once fitted, a little-used color still lasts a long time; the printer's own periodic calibration cycles use tiny amounts to keep the system ready. Replace colors when the printer reports them low, not on a schedule.

What is the quickest health check for this machine?

Print the supplies status page from the control panel. In under a minute you have all four levels, which tells you whether the set is still complete in reserve or whether a cartridge has been borrowed into the machine and not reordered.

Does the stapler on the fs use any of this toner?

None. Stapling happens after printing and draws no toner. If finished packs start looking faint, that is the print engine asking for a cartridge — start with the status page and the CE250A, which does the heavy lifting on this model.
