Frequently Asked Questions

How long will one cartridge last in our Dell B1160?

Work it out from your weekly volume. A B1160 printing 50 pages a week gets roughly seven months from one cartridge; at 150 pages a week, expect about ten weeks. The cartridge is rated at up to 1,500 pages, and because the B1160 is a mono printer, every single page it produces — letters, invoices, labels — draws on this one black cartridge.

Why does the rating say "up to" 1,500 pages?

Page ratings are measured at a standard light coverage — around 5% of the page covered in toner, typical of a business letter. A page of dense text, bold headings or graphics uses more toner, so real-world yield lands below the rating. Light, text-only printing can come close to the full 1,500 pages.

Which cartridge code does the B1160 take?

The Dell 331-7335. It is the same cartridge across the whole B1160 series, so a B1160, a B1163W and a B1165NFW on the same shelf all draw from one stock. When you reorder, check the 331-7335 code on the old cartridge's label and the match is certain.

Our prints have started coming out light — is the cartridge finished?

Probably close to it. Take the cartridge out and rock it gently from side to side several times; this redistributes the remaining toner and often restores density for a little while. If a test page still prints light after that, the cartridge has reached the end of its useful life and it is time for the replacement.

Does it make sense to buy more than one at a time?

For a B1160 in regular use, yes — the same 331-7335 is sold in 2, 3, 5 and 10 packs that cut the per-cartridge price from $32.76 down as low as $16.12. A single is the right choice for occasional printing; packs reward steady volume.

What happens if this cartridge develops a fault?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a year as well. Our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders leave from our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses. The details are set out on our shipping & returns page.
