Frequently Asked Questions

This listing says "Premium Quality" and costs the same $130.39 as the standard 5100 set. What is actually different?

Honestly, nothing we can point to on a spec sheet — and we would rather say so than dress it up. This set contains the same four cartridges, the 310-5807 black, 310-5810 cyan, 310-5809 magenta and 310-5808 yellow, at the same ratings and the same $130.39 price as the standard listing, with the same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns behind them. "Premium Quality" is a listing label, not a different product. Judge the set on its numbers and its cover, which are identical either way.

What are the four cartridges and their ratings?

The 310-5807 black is rated at 9,000 pages. The colors — 310-5810 cyan, 310-5809 magenta and 310-5808 yellow — are rated at 8,000 pages each. That stagger means the black will still be running when the first color slot asks for attention, so watch the colors when you plan reorders for your 5100.

What does a page cost on this set?

At $130.39, the set averages about $32.60 per cartridge. Against the ratings that is roughly 0.36 cents per page for the black's class and roughly 0.41 cents per page for each color's class. We give the two figures separately rather than one blend, because the black and the colors are not rated alike and a blended number would misstate both.

Are these Dell-made cartridges?

No. They are compatible cartridges built to the 310-5807, 310-5810, 310-5809 and 310-5808 specifications, manufactured by a third party rather than by Dell. The numbers are the identity that matters for your 5100; the protection comes from our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, which apply in full to this listing.

If a cartridge disappoints, what happens?

You are not stuck with it. A cartridge that prints badly is covered by the 1-year warranty and can be returned free within the first year — the terms are spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want to talk it through first.

How fast will the set arrive?

We ship from four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — and your order leaves from the one nearest you. The rest of the compatible range for the 5100 family can be compared on our Dell toner page.
