Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this cartridge sold under the number 331-0718 instead of a printer name?

Because that number is the cartridge's own identity. Dell assigns the 331-0718 part number to this high-yield yellow cartridge, and the same cartridge serves several machines — the Color Laser 2150cdn, the Color Laser 2150cn and the Multi-Function 2155cdn. Ordering by the number on the cartridge you pulled out is the surest way to get the same supply back in.

What does the yellow cartridge actually do in a color print?

More than most people expect. Yellow is the base of every green, every warm skin tone, and every golden or orange shade your 2150 produces, and it lightens the mixes it joins. A page can look "fine" in black and still be quietly wrong everywhere yellow was supposed to be — which is why yellow deserves the same attention as the other three colors.

Why do prints turn cold and bluish when yellow runs low?

Without enough yellow, the balance tips toward blue and cyan: greens go teal, warm tones flatten out, and photographs pick up a chilly cast while text stays perfectly sharp. That pattern — good text, cold color — points at the 331-0718 rather than at the printer itself.

What does a page of yellow cost here?

This cartridge is $27.16 with a 2,500-page rating, so the yellow channel runs about 1.09 cents per page. We will be straight with you: that is not the lowest per-page price in the world. What it buys is a 2,500-page fill — five reams of paper — so a 2150cn in weekly color service goes months between yellow changes instead of weeks.

How do I keep a spare ready without spoiling it?

Leave the cartridge sealed in its bag, store it flat in a cool, dry place, and keep it out of sunlight and away from heaters. Sealed and stored that way it keeps its full rated life until the day you install it. Open it only when the old cartridge is actually coming out.

What cover and service come with it?

This compatible cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the terms spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Orders leave from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses — whichever is fastest to your door — and our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The wider range is browsable on our Dell toner page.
