Frequently Asked Questions

Faces in our photos look pale and pink, yet documents print normally. Why?

Skin tones lean heavily on yellow. As the yellow cartridge fades, photographs lose their warmth first — faces wash out and drift pink — while text documents, which ask little of the yellow, carry on looking respectable. A machine that prints fine memos and sickly portraits is very often simply a machine running out of yellow.

How do I prove it is the yellow and not one of the other colours?

Print the machine's test pages for each primary colour and lay them side by side. Three patches will look dense and even; the failing colour's patch comes out pale and washed. On a 7760 with the symptoms described above, that pale patch is the yellow's, and the cartridge behind it is the 106R01162.

Is this listing a single cartridge or a set?

A single cartridge, whatever the plural in the catalog name suggests. One 106R01162 yellow, rated at up to 25,000 pages, at $134.58 — the GX badge in the title identifies the machine it serves, not a quantity in the box.

What does photo-heavy printing do to the rated life?

It spends it faster, predictably. The 25,000-page rating assumes 5 percent coverage; a photograph covers most of the sheet, much of it calling on yellow for skin and warmth. Photo-led workloads should plan replacements by the machine's low-toner warning rather than by counting toward the headline figure.

Does the GX take the same yellow as the rest of the 7760 line?

The very same. The base Phaser 7760 and the Phaser 7760DX use this cartridge too, so a GX in a mixed fleet needs no separate stock — one yellow serves every badge in the family.

What if a new cartridge's colours still look wrong?

The cartridge is covered by a one-year warranty with free returns for a full year, and support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST to help separate a supply problem from a machine problem before anything is sent back.
