Frequently Asked Questions

Why does magenta drift show up first in skin tones and brand reds?

Because those are the colors your eye audits hardest. Magenta is a building block of every red, pink and flesh tone, so as the 106R01161 cartridge empties, proofs lose warmth and accuracy in exactly the places a graphics user checks. On a GX used for color work, that drift — not the printer's low-toner message — is the real change signal.

What should you do right after installing the new cartridge?

Print a proof you know well — a familiar photograph or your standard test sheet — and compare it against a known-good copy. A fresh magenta restores the warm half of the palette at once; if reds and skin tones are back, the machine is calibrated by output, which is the only test that matters for proofing work.

How does the page economics look for studio work?

The cartridge is $70.76 with a rated yield of up to 25,000 pages, around 0.28 cents per page for magenta at standard coverage. Proof-heavy work uses more per sheet, but the starting fraction is small enough that the 7760GX remains cheap to run next to outsourced proofing.

Is this listing for one cartridge or several?

One. "Cartridges" in the name is plural wording only; the box contains a single 106R01161 magenta cartridge. Studios that cannot tolerate downtime often order a second as a shelf spare, but that is a choice, not the contents of this listing.

Which printers use this magenta?

All Phaser 7760 variants: the Phaser 7760, Phaser 7760DN and Phaser 7760DX, along with the GX named here and the YDN, YDX and YGX configurations. The magenta cartridge never changed across the family.

What guarantee and returns terms apply?

Every cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty with free returns for a full year, set out on the shipping & returns page. We ship from IL, PA, GA and CA, support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the balance of the range is listed on the Xerox supplies page.

About This Phaser 7760GX Magenta Cartridge

For the graphics-oriented GX, this listing is the magenta half of the color story: a single compatible 106R01161 cartridge at $70.76, rated up to 25,000 pages. When proofs start leaning cold and reds stop matching the screen, this is the cartridge that brings the palette back.
