Frequently Asked Questions

What does the N in Phaser 6500N stand for?

Network. The 6500N plugs into the office network so several people print to it, instead of belonging to one computer. That changes who uses the machine, not what feeds it: the black supply for the networked model is the same cartridge as the rest of the platform, part number 106R01597, and this listing is one of them at $31.95.

Why does a shared printer get through black so quickly?

Because everybody's everyday work lands on it. One person's letters, another's invoices, the office's forms and labels — nearly all of it is black text, and a networked machine collects that demand from every desk it serves. The colors wait for the occasional graphic; the black cartridge carries the crowd, and it is the one that empties.

How much printing does this cartridge hold?

Up to 3,000 pages at the standard 5% coverage measure — roughly 1.06 cents of toner per page at this listing's $31.95 price. On a shared machine the calendar life of a cartridge is shorter than on a personal one, simply because the pages accumulate faster; the page count the cartridge delivers is the same.

The name says "Cartridges" — is this a multi-pack?

It is not. The plural is catalog habit; this listing ships one black cartridge. For a networked printer whose empty-black warning inconveniences a whole office, the multi-pack listings in this family put spares on the shelf at a lower cost per cartridge — worth a look if downtime is the thing you are really buying your way out of.

Which other printers use this same black?

The platform shares one supply throughout: the base Phaser 6500, the duplex Phaser 6500DN, and the WorkCentre 6505 multifunctions — the Phaser 6500N on your network included. Match the code 106R01597 on the outgoing cartridge and the match is certain.

What support stands behind it?

A one-year warranty and a full year of free returns, as laid out on our shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, real support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the platform's other consumables sit on our Xerox toner page.
