Frequently Asked Questions

Does copying on my 6128MFP use this toner the same way printing does?

Yes. A photocopy is a print the machine makes from a scan, so every copied page draws on the black cartridge just like a page sent from a computer. Scanning to email or to a folder, by contrast, uses no toner at all. Owners who mainly copy are often surprised how quickly the black moves — the copy counter and the print counter are both drinking from the same cartridge.

How many pages does this cartridge give a machine that copies as much as it prints?

It is rated at up to 3,100 pages at about five per cent coverage — one cartridge, $38.26, roughly 1.23 cents per page. Copied originals with heavy dark areas, like forms with shaded boxes or photographs, use more toner per page than a plain typed letter, so a copy-heavy office should expect the lower end of the range.

The listing name says "Cartridges" — am I buying one or several?

One. Despite the plural wording in the title, this listing is a single black cartridge: Xerox 106R01455, the black for the Phaser 6128MFP. The 2, 3 and 5 packs of the same cartridge are listed separately for offices that would rather stock ahead.

Does the 6128MFP/N take a different black cartridge?

No. The /N model is the same multifunction with network sharing added; the toner is unchanged. One spare on the shelf serves either version, which is handy for offices running a mix of the two.

What are the early signs this black is nearly done?

Look at copied and printed text: sharp black softens to grey, then pages pick up light streaks or uneven density from top to bottom, while color pages still look normal. That split — color fine, black fading — is the classic signature of an emptying black cartridge rather than a machine fault.

What warranty and returns cover this purchase?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a year, with the details on the shipping and returns page. Orders ship from whichever of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses is closest to you, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The full lineup for this machine is on the Xerox toner page.
