Frequently Asked Questions

How do you rotate three cartridges through a printer that holds two?

Two go into the machine and the third stays sealed on the shelf. When the first cartridge in the Phaser 7100 runs out, the shelf cartridge takes its place, and the remaining in-machine cartridge — which is younger — carries on. That rotation means the printer is never waiting on a delivery, and no cartridge sits unopened long enough to be forgotten about.

How many pages does the whole pack cover?

Each 106R02605 cartridge is rated at up to 5,000 pages, so the three together account for up to 15,000 pages of black printing. For a small office putting 500 black pages a month through the machine, that is roughly two and a half years of toner from one box; at 1,500 pages a month it is still about ten months before you think about toner again.

What does the 3 pack do to the per-cartridge price?

It brings it down to $54.37. Three single cartridges would cost $200.07 bought separately; this pack is $163.10, a saving of $36.97, and the toner cost per page falls to about 1.09 cents. It is the middle step of the family's price ladder — cheaper per cartridge than the pair, without committing to the five-pack's larger outlay.

How should the shelf cartridge be stored?

Sealed in its bag, flat, at normal room temperature, away from radiators, sunny windowsills and damp store rooms. Toner cartridges are not perishable in any fast sense, but heat and humidity are unkind to them over months, and the third cartridge in this pack may wait a while before its turn. Stored flat and sealed, it will be ready when the rotation calls for it.

Why does black deserve its own stock plan on a colour machine?

Because black does most of the printing. The colour cartridges in a 7100 serve graphics and colour documents, while everyday text — mail, invoices, statements, contracts — draws only on black. Offices that stock colour carefully and black casually tend to discover the imbalance at the worst moment; a three-cartridge black reserve matches the way the machine actually consumes its supplies.

What cover does the pack carry?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year cover every cartridge in the box; the full wording is on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the broader range for this family sits on our Xerox toner page.
