Frequently Asked Questions

The name says "Cartridges" — how many are actually in the box?

One. The plural in the listing's name is a quirk of how the product line is titled, but this is a single-cartridge listing: one black cartridge, part number 106R02605, rated at up to 5,000 pages, for $66.69. If you are after multiples, the same cartridge is sold in 2, 3 and 5 packs elsewhere in this family — this page is the one-at-a-time option.

How do I confirm this is the cartridge my printer takes?

Look at the label on the cartridge you are replacing. The Phaser 7100 family's black cartridge carries the number 106R02605, and that number is what this listing sells. Matching the number on the old cartridge is the surest check there is — it cuts through model variants, because the 7100, 7100N and 7100DN all draw from the same black cartridge.

What does one cartridge cost me per page?

At $66.69 for up to 5,000 pages, about 1.33 cents per page in black toner. That is the highest per-page figure in this family — the packs beat it — but for a printer that only occasionally needs black, paying for one cartridge now instead of a shelf of them later is often the right arithmetic anyway.

My printer has two black slots — what does a single cartridge do for me?

It fills one of them. A single cartridge is the right purchase when the other slot still holds a cartridge with life in it and only one side has run dry: you replace the spent cartridge, keep the survivor working, and the machine goes back to its full stride without your having to buy a pair. It is also the natural top-up between pack purchases.

When is the single the smarter buy than a pack?

When volume is low or unpredictable. A home-office 7100 that prints a few hundred pages a month may take well over a year to finish one cartridge, and tying up money in spares makes little sense. The single also suits a first purchase, when you want to run one cartridge through the machine before committing to a multi-pack.

What cover comes with this cartridge?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the packs and colour cartridges for this printer are gathered on our Xerox toner page.
