Frequently Asked Questions

The title says "Toner Cartridges" — how many are actually in the box?

One. This listing's name uses the plural out of catalog habit, but what ships is a single black cartridge at $31.95. We would rather settle that here than have you open the box expecting spares: if you want a cartridge in reserve as well as one in the machine, the multi-packs in this same family are the listings built for that.

Why is this listing named for the 6500 instead of a part number?

Because that is how many people shop — by the machine on their desk rather than the code on the cartridge. Underneath the naming, the supply is the platform's black, part number 106R01597. This model-named listing and the code-named listing are the same cartridge arriving by two different search routes.

What does this cartridge print, and at what cost?

It is rated at up to 3,000 pages at the customary 5% coverage measure, and at $31.95 the toner comes to about 1.06 cents a page. Ordinary office text sits close to that measure; pages with heavy solid areas use more toner per page and will bring the total in under the rating, while light memos can stretch it further.

Is this the black, or a set of colors?

The black only. These are color printers, but each color lives in its own cartridge with its own part number and its own listing — nothing in this box fills the cyan, magenta or yellow slots. Black is sold on its own because it is the cartridge these machines consume fastest by a wide margin.

Which printers is it for?

The Phaser 6500 family — including the Phaser 6500N and the duplex Phaser 6500DN — and the WorkCentre 6505 multifunctions, which share the same black supply. Whichever of those sits in front of you, the cartridge it wants is this one.

What cover does it carry?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a full year, as described on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, staff support Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and keep the platform's full range on our Xerox toner page.
