Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fifth cartridge in this set for?

Think of it as the shelf spare. Four cartridges from the 106R01281, 106R01278, 106R01279 and 106R01280 group fill the machine; the extra one waits in the box so the first slot to run dry — whichever color that turns out to be — can be swapped on the spot instead of stopping work while an order ships.

Does opening the spare mean I should reorder right away?

That is the smart way to read it. The moment the spare leaves the shelf, your safety margin is gone, so treat that swap as the reorder signal. Ordering then, while the machine still has four working cartridges, means the next box arrives with days to spare rather than under pressure.

How long will the cartridges in the machine last?

The 106R01281 black is rated at about 2,500 pages and the 106R01278 cyan, 106R01279 magenta and 106R01280 yellow at roughly 1,900 pages each, measured at 5% coverage. A printer doing mostly letters and invoices will stretch those numbers; one printing color presentations will come in under them, colors first.

Which machines does this five-cartridge box fit?

It is built for the Phaser 6130 family, including the networked 6130N. Both models draw from the same four part numbers, so the spare covers either machine if your office runs one of each.

How should the spare cartridge be stored?

Keep it sealed in its bag, flat, in a cool dry cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat vents. Toner does not spoil quickly, but months on a hot windowsill or next to a radiator can cake the powder and shorten a cartridge's useful life. Stored sensibly, the spare will be ready well beyond the current set's run.

What protection and support does the set carry?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns cover every cartridge in the box. Shipments originate from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and the shipping and returns page covers delivery times and how returns work. Support staff are available Mon–Fri, 9 AM–5 PM CST.

About This 6130 5 Color Set

Five cartridges spanning the four 6130 part numbers — 106R01281 black at about 2,500 pages, 106R01278 cyan, 106R01279 magenta and 106R01280 yellow at roughly 1,900 pages each — for $87.17. Four reload the machine today; the fifth sits ready as the buffer that turns an empty slot from a stoppage into a thirty-second swap. The plain four-pack and single cartridges are on our Xerox toner page.
