Frequently Asked Questions

Our SCX-5635FN copies as much as it prints — does copying draw on this cartridge too?

Yes — a copy is a print. Every page the SCX-5635FN copies spends toner from this MLT-D208L cartridge at the same rate as a page sent from a computer. Scanning is the exception: a scan becomes a file and uses no toner at all. So judge this cartridge's working life by your combined print-and-copy total, which on a busy multifunction machine can be close to double the print count alone.

How long will 10,000 pages last a shared department machine?

It depends entirely on the department's pace, so think of it in months of your own volume: a machine turning out roughly 1,000 printed and copied pages a month would take about ten months over one cartridge, while a machine doing 2,500 a month would finish it in four. The 10,000-page rating itself is measured at standard five percent coverage, so dense reports and shaded forms will pull those figures down somewhat.

What does each page cost with this cartridge fitted?

The cartridge is $77.73 for a 10,000-page rating, which works out at about 0.78 cents of toner per page. On a shared machine that cost is worth knowing precisely because nobody owns it: it is the honest per-page figure to put against the department's print budget, and it holds whether the page arrived as a print job or a copy.

This listing names the SCX-5635FN itself — is this its own cartridge?

It is. The MLT-D208L is the supply code listed for the Samsung SCX-5635FN, and this listing is simply named after the machine rather than the code. If the cartridge you removed from your printer is stamped MLT-D208L, this is the same cartridge in compatible form; the heading and the code are two labels for one product.

We have been using the standard-yield cartridge — what changes if we fit this one?

The fit is the same and nothing needs adjusting: the MLT-D208L is the high-yield sibling of the standard MLT-D208S for this machine, so the swap buys a longer interval before the next change rather than any difference in handling. On a shared printer, that longer interval is the real benefit — fewer interruptions landing in the middle of somebody else's deadline.

What warranty and returns cover stands behind it?

A full year of warranty cover against defects, with returns free of charge throughout that first year — the complete wording is on our shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from the nearest of our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This SCX-5635FN (MLT-D208L) Cartridge

Written for the machine rather than the code: this is the MLT-D208L high-yield black cartridge for the Samsung SCX-5635FN — 10,000 rated pages at $77.73, about 0.78 cents a page, feeding the printer and the copier from the same unit while the scanner asks nothing of it. Toner and imaging components are combined in the one cartridge, so replacement is a single swap. It belongs to our full Samsung toner cartridge range, with a year's warranty and a year of free returns behind it.
