Frequently Asked Questions
What does this five-cartridge set actually cover?
It mixes the two halves of the CLT-404S family in one box: the black side, headed by the CLT-K404S, together with color cartridges from the CLT-C404S cyan and CLT-M404S magenta lines named in its title — five cartridges in total. It is the closest thing to a complete restock for the printer, short of ordering every cartridge individually.
Why does the black cartridge outlast the colors?
The black CLT-K404S is rated at 1,500 pages while each color cartridge is rated at 1,000, both at the standard 5% coverage. Samsung sized the black unit larger because most mixed printing leans heavily on text; in practice the colors will usually call for replacement first, and the black keeps going behind them.
Who is a mixed set like this best suited to?
Offices that print everything on one machine — invoices and letters through the week, then color presentations, charts or photos in bursts. Rather than monitoring four separate supply levels, they take one delivery that refreshes black and colors together, and the printer returns to a known, balanced starting point.
What is the per-cartridge cost?
The set is priced at $219.68 for five cartridges, which averages out to about $43.94 each. That average blends the larger black cartridge with the colors, and it is the simplest figure to weigh against piecing the same restock together from individual listings.
Which Samsung printers use this set?
The CLT-404S family powers the Xpress C430 and C430W, the Xpress C480, and the Xpress C480FW multifunction. If those model names match the front of your machine — or the outgoing cartridges carry 404S codes — this set belongs in it.
What happens if one cartridge in the set fails early?
Each cartridge is individually covered: a one-year warranty applies to every unit in the box, and returns stay free for the whole of that first year. The procedure is explained on our shipping & returns page, help is available Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM CST, and stock ships out of Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses.
About This Samsung CLT-404S 5 Color Toner Set
This $219.68 set takes a different approach from the color-only boxes on the same platform: five cartridges spanning black (1,500 pages) and the 1,000-page colors, built around the CLT-K404S, CLT-C404S and CLT-M404S lines, for the Xpress C430, C430W, C480 and C480FW. It fits the user who would rather reset the whole printer in one order than stagger replacements across the calendar. Like the rest of our Samsung compatible toner, it comes with a year's warranty and free returns during that year.
