Frequently Asked Questions

Why do reds and skin tones look wrong before anything else when magenta fades?

Magenta does the heavy lifting in reds, oranges, purples, and every shade of skin — so when it runs low, logos lose their punch and faces in photos turn gray-green long before the page looks obviously "out of color." That early warning is actually useful: it means you can order a replacement before output becomes unusable. A fresh cartridge brings the reds back immediately.

How long will one magenta cartridge last in a normal office?

The 888310 is rated at 15,000 pages at 5% coverage, and magenta is only consumed where pages carry red-family color. An office printing mostly documents with a color logo here and there can stretch one cartridge well past a year. Shops printing brochures, menus, or photo-heavy material will cycle through it considerably faster.

Is this the right magenta cartridge for my machine?

Lanier LP226cn, Aficio CL4000DN, Aficio SP C410DN and Aficio SP C411DN This listing covers the 888310 magenta cartridge made for the Ricoh Aficio CL4000DN platform. The listing title names a single model, but the cartridge is the platform's standard magenta unit — the same one used across the CL4000DN family. It sits alongside the 888308 black, 888311 cyan, and 888309 yellow in the same machine.

My printer says magenta is empty — can I keep printing in black?

The CL4000DN will flag the empty color and hold up color work until it is replaced, because a missing color makes accurate output impossible. Rather than fighting the warning, most owners keep one spare color cartridge on hand so the swap takes minutes. If color accuracy matters to the job, there is no honest workaround for an empty cartridge.

What is the per-page cost of the magenta cartridge?

At $108.71 for 15,000 rated pages, magenta works out to roughly 0.72 cents per page at standard coverage — and in practice far less per printed page, since most pages use little or no magenta at all. Graphics-heavy documents are the exception and will consume it at closer to the rated pace. Compared with repeatedly buying at short notice, planning the purchase keeps the cost predictable.

How am I covered if the cartridge has a problem?

You get a full one-year warranty on this cartridge, and because it is a compatible cartridge, returns are free for a whole year as well — the terms are spelled out on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA, and CA, so replacements move fast. Questions are answered by our support team Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
