Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the cyan cartridge usually outlast the black one in the same printer?
Most office pages are mostly text, and text is printed with black toner — cyan only gets used where a page actually carries blue, green, or photo content. On a typical CL4000DN workload, cyan is drawn down far more slowly than black, so a 15,000-page cyan cartridge often covers a year or more of mixed printing. The rating assumes standard 5% page coverage, so heavy full-color work will shorten that.
What do prints look like when cyan starts running low?
The first signs are washed-out skies, pale blues, and greens that drift toward yellow because there is not enough cyan to balance them. It usually creeps in gradually rather than failing overnight. Replacing the cartridge restores the full color balance in one swap — there is no partial fix worth doing.
Which printers does this cyan cartridge fit?
Lanier LP226cn, Aficio CL4000DN, Aficio SP C410DN and Aficio SP C411DN This is the 888311 cyan cartridge for the Ricoh Aficio CL4000DN platform, and the cartridge itself is the same unit whichever listing names a single model — our product titles name one machine, but the cartridge is built for the whole platform. If your machine takes the 888308 black, it takes this cyan alongside it.
What does a page of color printing cost with this cartridge?
At $108.19 for a rated 15,000 pages, the cyan share works out to roughly 0.72 cents per page at standard coverage. Real cost depends on how much blue and green your documents actually carry — a text-heavy office pays far less in practice because cyan sits out most pages. Dense marketing pieces and photos will push the figure up.
Should I replace cyan on its own or wait until more colors are low?
Replacing it on its own is perfectly fine — each color in the CL4000DN is an independent cartridge, so you only ever change the one that is empty. Waiting until several colors are low can make sense if you prefer a single order, which is what our 3-pack of all three colors is for. There is no penalty either way; the printer does not need the colors changed as a matched set.
What protection comes with this cartridge?
Every Clever Supplies cartridge is covered by a one-year warranty, and compatible cartridges like this one also carry one-year free returns if it is not right for your machine. Full details are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA, and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
