Frequently Asked Questions
We just bought a used MP C305SPF with unknown toner levels — is a full set the right first move?
It is the cleanest way to take ownership of the machine. A used unit arrives with four cartridges at four unknown ages, and one will fail mid-job within the first weeks; a fresh set resets every counter to a known starting line, so future consumption becomes predictable. If the budget is tight, check the machine's counter page first — a black cartridge showing strong remaining life can wait, and you can start with the colors instead.
Does the order I install the four cartridges in matter?
Not to the machine — each slot only accepts its own color, so a cartridge physically cannot go in the wrong place. Work one slot at a time, rock each new cartridge gently side to side before seating it, and let the printer run its calibration cycle when all four are in; the first color pages after a full swap are exactly what that cycle is for.
How long before something in this set needs replacing again?
The set does not age evenly: the black is rated at 12,000 pages while each color is rated at 4,000, so the first color — usually the one your documents lean on hardest — will call for a single replacement long before the black is half spent. Plan on topping up individual colors from then on; a full set is a starting line, not a recurring purchase.
Does this set match our machine?
The set is built around the 841621 black and its 841591/841592/841593 color companions for Ricoh MP C305SPF — every model on that platform uses these same four cartridges, whatever the listing's headline model says. Machines outside the platform take different cartridges, so if your Ricoh model is not in that family, ask us first and we will match the set to your printer.
One cartridge in the set turned out to be faulty — do I have to return all four?
No. Coverage applies cartridge by cartridge, so the faulty unit is replaced or refunded on its own while the three healthy ones stay in your machine. Keep the problem cartridge and its box until support confirms the arrangement — Mon–Fri, 9 AM–5 PM CST — and the rest of your set never has to leave the printer over one bad unit.
How does the year of coverage work if I install the cartridges months apart?
Each cartridge is backed for a full year, with free returns across the same window, so a color you seat in March is protected on its own timeline rather than being tied to the day the box arrived. That is what makes a four-cartridge set safe to install gradually as the old units actually run out. The complete policy is spelled out on our shipping & returns page.
