Frequently Asked Questions

Is $104.17 reasonable for a 2,000-page magenta cartridge?

On page cost alone, it is expensive: about 5.2¢ per page at the 2,000-page rating. The honest case for this cartridge is not low cost. It is keeping a particular printer supplied when the model is uncommon enough that simply finding the right magenta is the real problem. If your SP C220 still fits your workload, availability can be worth more than a theoretical cheaper alternative that does not fit the machine.

What print problems point to magenta rather than another color?

Look at reds, pinks and skin tones. When magenta fades, red can drift toward orange, skin can look pale or gray, and warm graphics lose depth. Blues may still look acceptable because cyan is doing its work. That kind of one-sided color loss is the pattern this single magenta cartridge is meant to correct.

Which printer does this cartridge serve?

It serves Ricoh Aficio SP C220. Use the full printer model when checking your machine, since cartridge color by itself is not enough to identify the right supply.

Should I stock a spare for a printer that prints color only now and then?

Only if downtime would be a nuisance when the color finally runs out. A sealed spare can make sense for a printer that must stay ready, but a low-yield cartridge is also a poor place to tie up money if color jobs are rare and can wait for delivery. Buy the spare for readiness, not for page-cost savings.

Does replacing magenta mean the other cartridges are near the end too?

Not necessarily. Each color is consumed according to the pages you print. A document set heavy in red graphics can drain magenta while cyan and yellow remain serviceable. Replace the color that is actually weak, and keep the others in place while their output still looks right. Black is sold separately for this platform.

What if I need help or the cartridge is not right?

Clever Supplies provides a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns on this cartridge; see the shipping and returns policy for the details. Support hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, which is useful for a less common model where a quick model check can prevent a wrong order.
