Frequently Asked Questions

The X748de is fast. Does that mean it burns through this cartridge faster?

It burns through it sooner on the calendar, not faster per page. Yield is measured in pages, and 12,000 rated pages is 12,000 pages whether the machine prints them at 20 or 50 pages per minute. On a high-throughput X748de that count may arrive in weeks rather than months, which is a planning point, not a defect.

How much does copying eat into the 12,000-page rating?

Every black copy draws from this cartridge exactly like a print, and copies of dense originals — contracts with heavy text blocks, shaded forms — can run well past the 5% coverage the rating assumes. A copy-heavy X748de should budget on output pages, not on the headline number. Scanning to email or folder, by contrast, uses no toner at all.

Is this the same cartridge the X746 series takes?

Yes — the C746H2KG serves the whole platform, and this listing simply names the X748de. The same cartridge fits C746DN, C746DTN, C746N, C748DE, C748DTE, C748E, X746DE, X748DE and X748DTE, which is why many fleets stock one black cartridge type for all of them. It remains the black cartridge only; the colors are separate items.

What does a single cartridge cost us per page in a machine like this?

At $96.39 for 12,000 rated pages, about 0.80 cents per page — the highest per-page cost in this cartridge's range, because singles carry no quantity discount. For a satellite machine with modest output that hardly matters. On a heavily used X748de, the two- and four-packs exist precisely to pull that figure down.

How do we avoid the X748de stopping mid-job with an empty cartridge?

Watch the toner gauge rather than the calendar — the machine reports remaining life on its panel and embedded web page, and at this machine's speed the last few percent can disappear inside one big run. Order when the gauge first warns, not when pages fade. If mid-job stops are a recurring pain, keeping a spare from a multi-pack ends the problem entirely.

What support stands behind this cartridge if print quality drops?

You get a one-year warranty on the cartridge and free returns for a full year after purchase, with the details laid out on our shipping and returns page. Our team is reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST for troubleshooting before anything needs to come back. Most quality complaints are resolved with a replacement rather than a repair debate.
