Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a high-speed MFP benefit from a two-pack more than a slow desktop printer does?

Because the X748de can consume the tail end of a cartridge inside a single morning's runs. With a spare already on site, a swap takes minutes and the queue never notices. On a slow machine you might wait out a delivery; on this one, waiting means a department's output is parked.

What does the two-pack save over ordering singles twice?

Two separate singles total $192.78; this pack is $174.29, saving $18.49 and pricing each cartridge at $87.15. It also halves the ordering work — one purchase order, one delivery — which in a managed office is worth nearly as much as the discount. Across 24,000 rated pages the cost works out to roughly 0.73 cents per page.

Must both cartridges go into our X748de, or can they serve two machines?

Either way works. The C746H2KG is the platform's shared black cartridge — C746DN, C746DTN, C746N, C748DE, C748DTE, C748E, X746DE, X748DE and X748DTE — and this listing just names the X748de. Split the pack between two listed models, or run both through the one machine back to back; nothing about the pack ties the pair together.

When the first cartridge from the pack goes in, what should happen next?

Treat that moment as your reorder trigger. The installed spare means the shelf is now empty, so placing the next order the same day keeps the buffer intact without any monitoring effort. It is the simplest stock system there is: the spare going in is the signal, and it works even when nobody is formally tracking toner.

Do copies count against the pack's 24,000 pages the same way prints do?

Yes — every black page out of the X748de, printed or copied, draws on these cartridges, and dense copies draw faster than the 5%-coverage rating assumes. Plan the pair's life in total output pages and you will not be surprised. Pure scanning consumes none of it.

If a cartridge is dead on arrival, how is that handled?

A faulty cartridge can be returned free within the first year, and every cartridge carries a one-year warranty — the steps are on our shipping and returns page. You return the bad unit only; the second cartridge stays in service. If you want help confirming the cartridge is really the problem before sending it, support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
