Frequently Asked Questions

A 5,000-page run cannot pause for a toner delivery — how do I plan around that?

By never letting the installed cartridge be your last one. This two-pack puts one cartridge in the printer and one on the shelf, so when a long tray-fed run drains the first, the swap happens on the spot and the job continues. The run finishes on your schedule, not a courier's.

What is the saving on the two-pack?

At $174.29 against $192.78 for two singles, you save $18.49, and each cartridge effectively costs $87.15. The pair delivers 24,000 rated pages — two full change cycles for this printer.

Do these cartridges fit the rest of the color family?

They do. Although this listing names the C746dtn, the C746H2KG inside is the shared black cartridge for the platform and works in C746DN, C746DTN, C746N, C748DE, C748DTE, C748E, X746DE, X748DE and X748DTE. Tray configurations make no difference to the cartridge. This pack is black only — the color cartridges are separate listings.

What reorder rule should I follow with a two-pack?

Treat installing the spare as the reorder signal. The moment cartridge two goes in, order the next pack; that rhythm keeps one cartridge of buffer in the building permanently. On a high-volume machine, waiting until the printer stops is the one approach that guarantees downtime.

Does printing from two trays change how much toner a page uses?

No. Letterhead in one tray and plain paper in the other still takes the same toner per page — toner use follows what is printed, not where the sheet came from. What the trays change is how rarely you stop to refill paper, which is exactly why toner planning matters more on this configuration.

How does the warranty work across both cartridges?

Each cartridge stands on its own one-year warranty, and returns within the first year are free — details are on our shipping and returns page. If the second cartridge ever misbehaves months from now, it is handled by itself, with support available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
