Frequently Asked Questions

What is the real difference between this Ultra cartridge and the standard 56F1000?

Capacity — nothing else about how it fits or installs. The standard cartridge for this printer is rated at 6,000 pages; this 56F1U00 Ultra is rated at 25,000 pages, more than four times as much. On cost per page the gap is just as wide: about 1.12 cents a page here against roughly 2.9 cents a page for the standard cartridge at its usual price.

Who should honestly stick with the standard cartridge instead?

Light users. If your MS521dn prints a few hundred pages a month, a 25,000-page cartridge could sit in the machine for five years or more — the standard cartridge costs less today and matches that pace perfectly well. The Ultra earns its price when monthly volume is high enough to burn through it in a reasonable span, roughly a year or less.

Does the Ultra fit any other models?

This listing is for the Lexmark MS521dn, and the printers this cartridge serves are MS521dn, MS621dn, MS622de, MX521de, MX522adhe, MX622ade and MX622adhe. Note the honest asymmetry: your MS521dn also accepts the smaller standard cartridge, but the Ultra's compatibility list is its own — check your exact model against that list before ordering for a different machine.

How long will 25,000 pages last a genuinely busy office?

At 2,500 pages a month, about ten months. At 4,000 a month, closer to six. The rating assumes standard 5% text coverage, so output heavy with graphics or dense forms will land short of the headline figure — but even discounted, one Ultra replaces four-plus standard cartridges and all the swaps that come with them.

Does a cartridge this size change print quality over its life?

No — output stays consistent from the first page to the last; the cartridge simply holds more toner. You will also change cartridges far less often, which means fewer interruptions and fewer chances to introduce dust during a swap. If quality ever does dip mid-cartridge, that is a warranty conversation, not something to accept as normal wear.

What warranty and returns come with the Ultra?

The same cover as everything we sell: a one-year warranty and free returns for twelve months from purchase. For a cartridge expected to stay in service most of a year, that window matters — a defect showing up in month eight is still covered. The procedure is laid out on our shipping and returns page.
