Frequently Asked Questions

• What is in this set of 9?

The box holds: CN045AN (2,300 pages), CN046AN (1,500 pages), CN047AN (1,500 pages), CN048AN (1,500 pages). Each cartridge is individually sealed.

• Which printers does this set fit?

The set fits OfficeJet Pro 251dw, OfficeJet Pro 276dw, OfficeJet Pro 8100, OfficeJet Pro 8600 and 9 more. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page.

• I read these printers block compatible cartridges — is that true?

Early firmware did check cartridge chips, but HP published a firmware update for the OfficeJet Pro 8100 / 8600 series that switches dynamic security off, and these printers have accepted compatible cartridges since.

• Does every cartridge in the set carry a chip?

Yes. Every cartridge in the set carries a new compatible chip that reports its own ink level to the printer.

• Does the set work out cheaper than buying singles?

Yes — the set is priced below the same cartridges bought one by one, and one box restocks every slot at once. Check the per-cartridge yields above against your usage.

• Do I have to install the whole set at once?

Yes. Open and install only the color the printer asks for, and keep the rest sealed — they store fine for when their turn comes.

• The printer is showing a warning after I installed it — what now?

Acknowledge the message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks and restart the printer. Most warnings are a one-time notice that a non-original cartridge was fitted.

• Is this a genuine HP set?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible set built to the original HP specifications and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP.

• What is the 950XL yield exactly?

HP's official technical datasheet for the CN045AN rates it at about 2,300 pages. Some reseller listings still show an older 2,500-page estimate — the datasheet figure is the one to plan on.

• What happens if a single cartridge from the set fails?

Contact us with the color and the problem — the lifetime warranty covers each cartridge in the set individually, so a single faulty cartridge is replaced on its own.

• Which cartridge in the set runs out first?

It depends on what you print: text-heavy use drains the black first, photo and graphics work drains the colors. Each cartridge reports its own level, and the spares from this set store sealed until their slot asks for them.

• How do I keep the rest of the set until I need them?

Sealed, upright and at room temperature, away from sunlight. Install each cartridge only when the printer asks for that color.
