Frequently Asked Questions

• How many pages does the HP CN047AN print?

HP rates the CN047AN at about 1,500 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense color pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Which printers take the CN047AN?

It fits OfficeJet Pro 251dw, OfficeJet Pro 276dw, OfficeJet Pro 8100, OfficeJet Pro 8600 and 9 more. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page — check your model there before ordering.

• I read these printers block compatible cartridges — is that true?

Early firmware did check cartridge chips, but HP published a firmware update for the OfficeJet Pro 8100 / 8600 series that switches dynamic security off, and these printers have accepted compatible cartridges since.

• Standard or XL — which should I buy?

This is the high-yield version, rated at about 1,500 pages. It costs more up front than the standard cartridge and far less per printed page, so it is the right pick for regular printing; the standard size suits a printer that only runs occasionally.

• Is the CN047AN pigment or dye ink?

It is pigment ink — the same ink technology HP uses in the original CN047AN — so text stays sharp and resists water and highlighter smear.

• Is there a chip on this cartridge?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• The printer is showing a warning after I installed it — what now?

Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall.

• Can I run this alongside original HP cartridges?

Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colors (or the other way round) prints normally.

• What is the 950XL yield exactly?

HP's official technical datasheet for the CN045AN rates it at about 2,300 pages. Some reseller listings still show an older 2,500-page estimate — the datasheet figure is the one to plan on.

• Is this a genuine HP cartridge?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the CN047AN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• What happens if it leaks or the printer will not recognize it?

Stop and contact us — do not keep printing on a faulty cartridge. The lifetime warranty covers recognition failures, leaks and print-quality defects: we replace the cartridge or refund you.

• Need the other colors too?

The full set and the other single colors are linked under the family list on this page, so you can match this cartridge with its matching set.
