• How many pages does the HP CC653AN print?

  HP rates the CC653AN at about 200 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense colour pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Has HP discontinued the 901?

  Yes — HP has ended the 901 line and points owners of newer machines to HP 60. For the OfficeJet 4500 and J-series printers on this page, our remanufactured 901 remains the supply line, and no dynamic-security firmware exists on these models to block it.

• Where is the printhead on this cartridge?

  Built into the cartridge itself. Every swap fits a fresh printhead, which is why a new cartridge often clears streaks and missing colours that cleaning cycles could not fix on these models.

• Standard or XL — which should I buy?

  This is the standard-yield cartridge, rated at about 200 pages. If you print every week, the XL version of the same colour works out cheaper per page; for a lightly used printer, this size avoids ink sitting unused.

• Is the CC653AN pigment or dye ink?

  It is pigment ink — the same ink technology HP uses in the original CC653AN — so text stays sharp and resists water and highlighter smear.

• Does this cartridge have a chip?

  Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• My printer shows a warning after installing — what do I do?

  Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall.

• Is this cartridge remanufactured?

  Yes — with the original 901 discontinued, the compatible supply is a professionally remanufactured cartridge: cleaned, refilled, fitted with fresh components where worn, and print-tested before it ships.

• Can I mix this cartridge with original HP cartridges?

  Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colours (or the other way round) prints normally.

• Is this an original HP cartridge?

  No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the CC653AN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• What if the cartridge leaks, is not recognised or prints badly?
