Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no page yield listed for this cartridge?

Because we could not verify Epson's official figure. The manufacturer data sheets for the black, cyan and magenta of this family state their yields plainly; the yellow's sheet could not be confirmed in our check, and third-party seller listings quote numbers that contradict each other. A yield we cannot source from Epson does not go on the page — the field stays blank until the official sheet is confirmed.

Which printers does the yellow fit?

All 31 verified 69-family models — the color cartridges have no exceptions in this family. That includes the Stylus C120 (whose colors are 69 cartridges even though its black is not) and all nine WorkForce models on the platform.

Is the yellow pigment or dye?

Pigment. The whole 69 family is DURABrite Ultra, Epson's pigment ink line, in every position including yellow.

Does it have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports the ink level to the printer. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur with compatible cartridges of this generation — reseating the cartridge resolves most cases, and if it doesn't, contact us: the cartridge is covered by our lifetime warranty and 1-year free returns. We don't claim guaranteed recognition; we stand behind the cartridge instead.

Seller sites quote a yield for this cartridge. Why don't you?

Because those quotes disagree with one another, and none of them is Epson's verified data sheet. Our rule for this catalogue is simple: yields come from the manufacturer or they don't get printed. The cartridge is the standard-capacity yellow its siblings are rated alongside — we simply decline to invent its number.

Does the missing yield figure mean this is a smaller cartridge?

No. It is the standard-capacity yellow of the 69 family, the same tier as the black, cyan and magenta sold on this shelf — the gap is in the published documentation we could verify, not in the cartridge.

Can I swap just the yellow?

Yes. This platform tracks four independent cartridges; replace whichever slot the printer reports as low. A head-cleaning cycle from the maintenance menu after a change helps fresh ink reach the head.

Will it work in a Stylus CX4450 I saw listed with these printers?

No. The CX4400 and CX4450 do not belong to the 69 family — they accept only the 88 family. If your printer is one of those two, no cartridge on this page fits it.

Can an old 69 yellow be refilled instead?

We advise against it for this generation: repair-community records describe a moisture-sensor design behind the chip of the 68/69/88 generation that can lock a dried-out cartridge's chip permanently, making refills unreliable. That is a repair-community finding rather than an Epson statement — but it is why our cartridges are new-built with new chips.

Is this a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — this is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge, built to the genuine cartridge's specification and labeled compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.

How do I store a spare?

Sealed, upright, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources.

Warranty and returns?

Lifetime warranty: a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced. Free returns within the first year.
