This is the document black of the Epson 410 system: the compatible T410XL020-S, a pigment black rated up to 500 pages (ISO/IEC 24711). In the Claria Premium layout this cartridge does the text work — letters, forms and everyday documents — while a separate Photo Black handles photographs. The two blacks sit in different slots and are not interchangeable, so the code on the cartridge you remove is the code to match: T410XL020-S means this page.

The standard-capacity 410 black (T410020-S) is rated 250 pages; this XL version doubles it. The cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge firmly and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge itself is faulty.
It serves the five verified 410 printers — XP-530, XP-630, XP-635, XP-640 and XP-830 — and nothing from the 302 family, whose XP-6000 and XP-6100 are different printers with different cartridges. Sibling colours are T410XL120-S photo black, T410XL220-S cyan, T410XL320-S magenta and T410XL420-S yellow. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages does the T410XL020 black print?
Up to 500 pages, Epson's published XL rating on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern. The standard 410 black is rated 250 pages, so the XL roughly doubles the interval between changes.
Is this the same as Photo Black?
No. This T410XL020-S is the pigment document black; Photo Black is T410XL120-S, a dye cartridge in its own slot. They cannot replace each other — a printer that asks for Black wants this one.
What ink is inside?
Pigment black, the one pigment position in the Claria Premium five-cartridge system. Epson's own description of the family is one pigment Black plus four dye colours.
Which printers take it?
The five verified models: XP-530, XP-630, XP-635, XP-640 and XP-830. It does not fit the 302-family XP-6000 or XP-6100.
Does it carry a chip?
Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseating and restarting usually clears a false warning.
My printer flags the cartridge after a firmware update. What should I do?
Power off, remove the cartridge, check the chip contacts are clean, reseat it until it clicks, and power back on. Epson documents this recognition pattern on its own support pages for this family; if the warning persists, contact us — the lifetime warranty covers the cartridge.
Can I run this XL black beside standard-capacity colours?
Yes. Every slot is independent, so XL and standard cartridges mix freely in the same printer.
How much ink is in it, in millilitres?
We publish no figure: Epson's US documentation for this family states no millilitre volume, so the Volume field is left blank rather than filled with a reseller claim. The verifiable figure is the 500-page ISO rating.
Is this a genuine Epson cartridge?
No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T410XL020-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page. It is not made by Epson.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
A cartridge that fails to perform — not recognised after troubleshooting, leaking, or printing poorly from new — is replaced under the lifetime warranty. Free returns apply within the first year.
My old cartridge says 33XL, not 410XL. Will this fit?
No. 33/33XL is the European-market code set for related hardware; the US 410/410XL cartridges use US-region chips. Match the code your US printer names — for the five models on this page, that is 410XL.
Single or set — which should I buy?
This single when only black is low. If several colours are close behind, the Set of 5 (all five XL cartridges) or the Bulk Set of 11 works out cheaper per cartridge; both are linked from this page.
