Frequently Asked Questions

What yield should I expect from the T273XL320?

Epson's published rating is up to 650 pages (ISO/IEC 24711) for the genuine XL magenta. Photographs draw more colour per page than the rating pattern, so photo-heavy use finishes sooner.

Is magenta dye or pigment in this family?

Dye. The 273 family's only pigment cartridge is the 020 Black; magenta is a Claria Premium dye ink, like cyan, yellow and Photo Black.

Which models is it compatible with?

XP-520, XP-600, XP-610, XP-620, XP-800, XP-810 and XP-820 — the complete verified 273 list. It fits no 302-family printer.

Does it have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — if a warning appears, reseat the cartridge firmly and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge is at fault.

The printer rejects the cartridge. First steps?

Power off, take the cartridge out, inspect the chip contacts, reseat until it clicks, and restart. A firmware update immediately before the message is the common trigger; if it persists, we replace it under the lifetime warranty.

Can I mix this XL magenta with standard cartridges?

Yes — slots are independent. A standard cyan or an XL black already in the machine works alongside this XL magenta without issue.

Why is there no millilitre figure?

Epson's US documentation does not state a volume for 273 cartridges, so the Volume field is left blank instead of borrowing a reseller number. Compare on the ISO yield: 650 pages.

Is this the standard magenta?

No — this is the high-capacity XL (T273XL320-S, 650 pages). The standard T273320-S is rated 300 pages and is not part of our compatible range for this family.

Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T273XL320-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page.

What if colours look wrong after installing?

Run the printer's nozzle check first — a clogged nozzle mimics a bad cartridge. If the pattern is clean and magenta is still off, contact us; the lifetime warranty covers a faulty cartridge.

Does it work for documents as well as photos?

Yes — magenta prints wherever the document or image calls for it. The dye formula is chosen for photo quality; the pigment black handles text sharpness.

When does a set make more sense?

When two or more colours are low together. The Set of 5 resets all five positions in XL; the Bulk Set of 11 suits photo-heavy homes. Both are linked from this page.
