The black-heavy mix matches how these printers actually consume ink: text black fastest, everything else in pairs behind it.
Yields are per cartridge and are never added together: each black up to 500 pages; each cyan, magenta and yellow up to 650 pages (ISO/IEC 24711); Photo Black is for photo printing and Epson publishes no ISO page yield for it. This set's cartridges each carry a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the flagged cartridge and restart the printer first.

How many pages does the set print?
Per cartridge, never summed: each black up to 500 pages; each colour up to 650 pages (ISO/IEC 24711); Photo Black has no Epson page rating. Cartridges empty at different rates, so a single total would mislead.
Why three blacks and two of everything else?
Because that is the consumption pattern of these printers: the pigment text black runs first in document work, while the four photo colours drain more evenly. The mix keeps a spare of every position on the shelf.

What about the chips?

How should I store the spares?
Sealed, upright, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Install cartridges as the printer flags them; there is no need to open the whole box at once.

As Epson designs the family: the three blacks (020) are pigment; Photo Black and the colours are Claria Premium dye inks.
Does it fit 302-family printers?
No. The XP-6000/XP-6100 line uses 302 cartridges — a different set with a different XL black rating. This box is 273-only.
Is this a genuine Epson set?

What if one cartridge in the box fails?
