Frequently Asked Questions

How many pages does the T273XL220 print?

Up to 650 pages on Epson's ISO/IEC 24711 rating for the genuine XL cyan. Photo-heavy printing uses colour faster than the document-based rating assumes.

Which printers take it?

The seven verified Expression Premium models: XP-520, XP-600, XP-610, XP-620, XP-800, XP-810 and XP-820.

Is the ink dye or pigment?

Dye — Claria Premium. Only the 020 Black in this family is pigment; cyan, magenta, yellow and Photo Black are all dye inks, which is what gives the set its photo gloss.

Does it have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — if a warning appears, reseat the cartridge firmly and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge is at fault.

Can I replace only the cyan?

Yes. The 273 system uses five individual cartridges; replace whichever colour the printer flags and leave the rest in place. XL and standard cartridges can be mixed in the same machine.

My prints have a magenta cast since cyan ran low. Related?

Very likely. When one colour empties, the printer's remaining colours skew every image. A fresh cyan restores the balance; run a nozzle check after installing if lines persist.

Is this standard or high capacity?

High capacity — the XL. The standard cyan (T273220-S) is rated 300 pages; this XL is rated 650. Our compatible range for this family is XL-only.

How much ink is in it, in millilitres?

No figure is published: Epson's US documentation gives no millilitre volume for the 273 family, so the Volume field is left blank. The comparable figure is the 650-page ISO yield.

Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T273XL220-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and this page.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

A cartridge that is not recognised after the reseat steps, leaks, or prints poorly from new is replaced under the lifetime warranty. Free returns apply within the first year.

Does this fit the XP-6000 or XP-6100?

No. Those printers use the 302 family — a look-alike Claria Premium set with a different XL black rating and different cartridges. This cyan is for the seven 273 models listed on this page.

Single or set?

The single when only cyan is low. If the other colours are close behind, the Set of 5 (all XL) or Bulk Set of 11 is cheaper per cartridge; both are linked from this page.
