Frequently Asked Questions

Six cartridges, three colors — how is this 6-pack made up?

The set holds six cartridges spanning the three color positions of the printer: the 310-5731 cyan, the 310-5730 magenta and the 310-5729 yellow. The listing presents it as a six-cartridge color set rather than itemizing a fixed count for each individual color, so think of it as two rounds of color changes for a printer that prints color steadily. As with the smaller set, black is not part of it — that cartridge is a separate purchase on its own cycle.

What does the 6-pack save against the 3-pack and against singles?

At $166.34, each cartridge in this set works out to about $27.72. Two of the 3 color sets would cost $184.82, so the 6-pack saves you $18.48 over buying the same quantity in the smaller box — and against six cartridges bought one by one at $258.84 total, the saving grows to $92.50. It is the lowest per-cartridge price in this color family.

Who is a six-cartridge color set actually right for?

Offices that print color every week and hate mid-job surprises: a marketing desk producing flyers, a school office printing handouts, or any 3000cn that never really gets a quiet month. If your printer only sees occasional color — a logo on invoices, the odd chart — the 3 color set is the more sensible buy, and this one is more toner than you need on the shelf.

Will cartridges sitting in a cupboard for months still print properly?

Yes, provided they stay sealed in their packaging, stored flat in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. Work through the set oldest-first, and only open a cartridge when the printer actually calls for that color. Toner does not dry out the way liquid ink does, but seals and packaging are what protect it, so resist opening boxes early "just to check."

Why is there no black cartridge among the six?

Because this is a color restock set: it covers the 310-5731, 310-5730 and 310-5729 positions only. In most offices black drains on document printing while the colors drain on graphics, so the two rarely need replacing together. When your black does run low, it is ordered separately — mixing it into this set would force you to stock black at the colors' pace, not your own.

What protection comes with a bulk compatible set like this?

Every cartridge in the box is a compatible (not Dell-branded) unit backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the details on our shipping & returns page. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central, and the wider range for this printer sits on the Dell toner page.
