Frequently Asked Questions

The printer has four slots — why does this set contain five cartridges?

Because printers rarely stop at a convenient moment. This pack holds five cartridges drawn from the same four high-yield part numbers — 310-5726 black, 310-5731 cyan, 310-5730 magenta and 310-5729 yellow, each rated at up to 4,000 pages — so alongside a full set for the machine there is a spare on the shelf. Whichever slot runs dry next, the replacement is already in the building instead of in transit.

How does the price compare with the four-cartridge set?

The five-cartridge set is $141.70 against $117.06 for four — the fifth cartridge effectively adds $24.64, noticeably less than the roughly $29.27 a cartridge averages in the four-pack. Averaged across all five, you are paying about $28.34 per cartridge, each rated at up to 4,000 pages.

Which part numbers are covered?

The same four as the standard set: 310-5726 in black, 310-5731 in cyan, 310-5730 in magenta and 310-5729 in yellow — the high-yield cartridges for the Dell 3000 and 3100 series color lasers, 4,000 pages each. Ordering by part number keeps a reorder identical to the last one, whatever the listing is called.

Is this a genuine Dell product?

No — these are compatible cartridges from a third-party manufacturer, built to replace the Dell part numbers listed. The fit, the ratings and the numbers your stock system uses are Dell's; the cartridges themselves are compatible, which is where the price difference against the discontinued Dell-branded versions comes from.

What warranty and returns cover applies?

Every cartridge in the pack — including the spare — carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a cartridge held in storage is still covered when its turn comes. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the full terms are on our shipping & returns page.

Who is the five-cartridge size right for?

An office whose Dell color laser cannot sit idle waiting for a delivery — which, on a shared machine, usually means the black cartridge is the one that matters most and the spare earns its keep the first time it is grabbed. If your printer is a light-use backup machine, the four-cartridge set at $117.06 is probably the better-sized order.
