Frequently Asked Questions

5,000 pages for a home printer — are we talking years?

Quite possibly. Two Canon 071H cartridges are rated at 5,000 pages between them. An LBP-122DW printing 200 pages a month — a solid working-from-home pace — takes about two years to finish this pack. Even at 400 pages a month it is roughly a year. Buying this pair is less a purchase than a decision to stop thinking about toner for a long while.

What does the pair cost per cartridge?

The 2 pack is $99.27, so $49.64 per cartridge against $58.88 bought singly — a saving of $18.49 across the pair. At that price each Canon 071H (5646C001) delivers its 2,500 rated pages at about 1.99¢ per page, just under two cents.

How does the spare work when the first cartridge lasts this long?

The installed 071H may run for many months on its own, so the spare is not an emergency measure — it is simply the second half of a long arrangement. When the first cartridge finally finishes, the spare goes in and you reorder when convenient, with another 2,500 pages already working for you in the meantime.

How should a spare that may wait a year be stored?

Sealed in its packaging, flat, in a cool dry place away from sunlight and heat. Sealed toner cartridges wait well; the one mistake to avoid is opening the cartridge early out of curiosity. Install in the order purchased, and the arrangement takes care of itself.

How does this compare with the standard 2 pack for the LBP-122DW?

The standard Canon 071 (5645C001) 2 pack costs $83.09 for 2,400 rated pages. This high-yield pair costs $16.18 more — $99.27 — and gives you 5,000 pages, more than double. For a printer that sees weekly use, that is one of the clearest value steps in the whole family.

What warranty and returns apply?

Both cartridges are covered by our one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year — details on the shipping and returns page. Orders ship from the nearest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
