Frequently Asked Questions

What does 33,000 pages from one cartridge mean for a copy room?

It means the cartridge mostly disappears from your thinking. The Canon GPR-4 cartridge (part number GPR4BK) is rated at 33,000 pages, so in a department printing 8,000 to 10,000 pages a month, a single cartridge carries a whole quarter's black output. Swaps are rare events rather than a routine, long runs are not planned around toner, and the person who looks after the machine orders a few times a year.

What does a page cost with this cartridge?

$74.65 across 33,000 rated pages works out to roughly 0.23 cents per page — the kind of figure that makes black-and-white output close to negligible in a departmental budget. Dense, graphics-heavy pages will draw toner faster than the rating assumes, as they do with every cartridge, but for ordinary office documents the arithmetic holds.

The GPR-15 cartridge costs less to buy. Can we use that in this machine instead?

No. Cartridges are built for specific machine families and are not interchangeable in either direction: the GPR4BK fits machines that call for the Canon GPR-4, and the GPR-15 fits only its own. It is worth adding that the comparison is not even the bargain it looks — this cartridge costs $4.06 more than a GPR-15 single but carries 12,000 more pages, which is why its cost per page is lower. None of that changes the rule, though: your machine's cartridge name decides what you buy.

Is this a genuine Canon cartridge?

No — it is a compatible cartridge manufactured to the GPR4BK specification and sold under our own brand. It is designed to install and perform like the original in your imageRUNNER, and it stands behind that claim with a one-year warranty rather than with a logo. For a workhorse cartridge judged over 33,000 pages, that warranty is the practical difference that matters.

Our copies start to fade before the cartridge is officially empty. Is that normal?

Towards the end of any cartridge's life, output can lighten before the machine declares the toner finished — the rated yield is measured on standard office coverage, and real-world pages vary. Fading is best read as your change-over signal: finish the job in hand if it still looks acceptable, swap the cartridge at the next break, and treat the warning as scheduling information rather than an emergency.

What cover do we get with it?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns come with this compatible cartridge, so an early failure or a damaged delivery is our problem, not yours. Orders ship from the nearest of our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our support team is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST for anything from a delivery question to a print-quality puzzle.
