Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this set hold five cartridges instead of four?

Because four is one round of the printer, and many offices get through a round faster than they would like. The five-cartridge Canon 131 set keeps the full round — black 131BK plus 131C, 131M and 131Y — and adds a fifth cartridge of backup, so the first empty slot does not end the stock. It is the middle step between the four-set and the eight-set for offices whose printing sits between the two.

What does the fifth cartridge do to the maths?

It pulls the average down. At $99.54 for five, each cartridge averages about $19.91 — below the four-set's roughly $20.83 and well below the $34.70 single price. Bought as five singles, the same cartridges would be $173.50, so the pack price carries a substantial built-in discount before a page is even printed.

How much printing does the set represent?

Read it by class, not as one lump: black cartridges in the Canon 131 family are rated at 2,400 pages and each colour at 1,500 pages. Five cartridges across those ratings is a long stretch of mixed office output — months for most small teams — with the exact calendar life set by how black-heavy or colour-heavy your workload runs.

Who is the five-pack aimed at?

Offices that found the four-set ran out at an awkward moment: a small team sharing one colour machine, a surgery or school office with term-time bursts, anyone whose reorder rhythm is "too late, again". If a four-set comfortably lasts you a season, stay with it; if it does not, this is the size designed for you.

Does a bigger box need different storage?

Only a slightly bigger corner. Keep the cartridges sealed and flat, cool and out of sunlight, and fit them in the order that suits the printer's warnings. A five-set on the shelf means several changeovers are covered before anyone has to think about ordering again.

What cover comes with a pack this size?

The same as every compatible we sell: a one-year warranty and one-year free returns on each cartridge, detailed on our shipping & returns page, and support Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM CST. Orders ship from our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses.
