Frequently Asked Questions

One cartridge already prints 6,300 pages — why buy two at once?

Because the day a cartridge dies is never a convenient day. This 2-pack puts one Canon 046H black (046HBK) in the printer and one on the shelf, so a cartridge change is a two-minute pause instead of an emergency order and a wait for the courier. Between them the pair is rated for up to 12,600 pages. Offices that cannot afford a silent printer — reception desks, dispatch, accounts — treat the spare as insurance, not stockpiling.

What does the 2-pack do to the price?

Two singles would cost $70.56. The pack is $52.07, so you save $18.49 and the second cartridge effectively lands at $16.79. Per cartridge the price steps down from $35.28 to $26.04, and the per-page cost drops from about 0.56 cents to roughly 0.41 cents. It is the same 046HBK cartridge inside — the saving comes purely from buying the pair together.

How does this compare with two standard Canon 046 cartridges?

It is not close. Two standard 046 blacks also cost $52.07 as a pair here — the same money — but they are rated at 2,200 pages each, so 4,400 pages in total against this pack's 12,600. Same spend, nearly three times the printing. If your printer accepts the 046H, and the machines in this family do, the high-yield pair is the rational buy.

Will the spare cartridge go stale sitting in a drawer?

Not on any realistic timescale. Sealed toner cartridges keep for a long time — the toner is a dry powder, not a liquid that dries out. Keep the spare in its sealed bag, out of direct sunlight and away from heat, and it will be ready when the first cartridge finishes, whether that is in three months or well over a year.

Is the spare the identical cartridge to the one in the printer?

Yes — both are the same compatible Canon 046H black, code 046HBK, each rated at up to 6,300 pages. There is no "main" and "backup" grade difference. When the first runs out you fit the second, and your reorder point becomes calm rather than urgent: you have a full 6,300 pages of breathing room to order the next pack.

What cover do the two cartridges carry?

Both are covered by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. A cartridge that faults within the year goes back at no cost to you, and an unopened pack ordered in error can be returned free within the year as well. Details are on our shipping and returns page.
