Frequently Asked Questions

Two standard cartridges or one high-yield — what do the numbers actually say?

They say something worth knowing before you buy. This pack's two standard Canon 045 cartridges are rated at 1,400 pages each, so the pack totals 2,800 pages for $46.49 — about 1.66 cents a page. A single high-yield Canon 045H (045HBK) prints the same 2,800 pages on its own and costs $32.49. So on pure arithmetic the single H cartridge beats this pack. The pack earns its place if you specifically want standard-yield cartridges, or want one cartridge in the printer and a second, sealed standard spare on the shelf.

What do we save against two standard singles?

Two standard Canon 045 singles bought one at a time would cost $64.98. The 2-pack is $46.49, which is $23.25 per cartridge and a saving of $18.49 across the pair. Within the standard-yield line, this is the economical way to buy; the per-page cost improves from about 2.32 cents on singles to roughly 1.66 cents across the pack's combined 2,800 pages.

Can the pair be split across two printers?

Yes. Both cartridges are the ordinary Canon 045 black, and they serve the ImageClass LBP612Cdw, ImageClass MF632Cdw and ImageClass MF634Cdw in any combination. Restock two machines with one order, or keep both for a single printer — the cartridges are individually sealed and identical, so the split is entirely up to you.

How far does the pack's 2,800 pages go?

For a small office printing about 300 black pages a month, the pair covers roughly nine months. At 100 pages a month it is well over two years of toner bought in one go. Those figures rest on the 1,400-page per-cartridge rating at the standard 5% coverage; heavier documents will use the cartridges up faster, lighter text work more slowly.

Will the spare cartridge keep until we need it?

Yes. Leave it sealed in its packaging, stored flat in a cool, dry cupboard away from sunlight and radiators, and it will be ready whenever the first cartridge finishes — toner powder does not dry out in the box the way ink does. Open it only when you are about to install it, and if your needs change before then, the unopened cartridge is still returnable under the cover below.

What warranty and returns cover the pack?

The same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns we give every cartridge, applied to each of the two units separately. A cartridge that fails within its first year goes back at no cost to you, whether it was the first installed or the spare opened months later. The full wording is on our shipping and returns page.

About This Canon 045 Black 2-Pack

Two standard-yield Canon 045 blacks in one order: up to 2,800 pages combined at $23.25 a cartridge, for the ImageClass LBP612Cdw, MF632Cdw and MF634Cdw. Buy it knowing the honest comparison — one 045H single prints the same 2,800 pages for $32.49 — and choose it because standard-yield cartridges, or the built-in spare, are what you actually want.
