Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 12,000-page rating buy a busy office in practice?

The Canon 034 black cartridge (034K) is rated at 12,000 pages, which puts it in the long-service class: on a departmental imageCLASS machine printing a few hundred pages a week, one cartridge can run for months before anyone thinks about toner. The rating follows the standard 5% coverage method, so dense pages with heavy graphics will use it faster and plain text documents will stretch it further — but the point of this size is fewer interruptions, not just a bigger number.

Why is the black cartridge rated so much higher than the colors in this family?

In the 034 family, the black cartridge (034K) is rated at 12,000 pages while each color is rated at 7,300. That gap reflects how offices actually print: text documents dominate, so black does most of the work and is built with the larger capacity. When you plan stock, expect to replace the black on a different rhythm from the colors rather than everything at once.

How do I know the 034K is genuinely running low and not just having a bad day?

Watch the trend, not a single page. Evenly fading text across the whole page that gets progressively lighter over days points to a cartridge near the end. A sudden defect — a repeating mark, a stripe down one side, gray background haze — points to a mechanical cause instead. If the pages fade evenly, remove the cartridge and rock it gently side to side; redistributing the remaining toner often restores density for a while and confirms the cartridge was simply low.

Is this the genuine Canon cartridge?

No — this is a compatible cartridge built to the Canon 034 (034K) specification and sold under our own brand. It is not made by Canon and does not carry Canon packaging. What it does carry is our own backing: a 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should. That is the honest trade — a lower price than the original, with the risk carried by us rather than by you.

Can I keep a spare 034K on the shelf, or does toner go stale?

A sealed cartridge stores well. Keep it in its bag, flat, in a cool dry place away from sunlight and heat, and it will wait patiently until the installed cartridge finishes. There is no benefit to swapping early; an opened cartridge is better used than shelved. If your office keeps a spare, writing the arrival month on the box makes it easy to use the oldest cartridge first.

Where does my order ship from, and who do I call if something is wrong?

Orders ship from one of our four US warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, so delivery does not start with an ocean crossing. If the cartridge arrives damaged or prints badly, our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the return terms are set out on our shipping and returns page.
