Frequently Asked Questions

Five cartridges, four slots — how does this set break down?

This 5-piece set covers the full Canon 034 family — the black 034K and the cyan, magenta and yellow 034C / 034M / 034Y — plus one additional cartridge beyond the four the machine holds. We describe it that way deliberately: the set is a complete refresh plus a spare for whichever cartridge your office goes through fastest, and that is the honest way to think about the fifth cartridge rather than as a second full set.

Which cartridge will the spare most likely be used for?

In most offices, black. The 034K is rated at 12,000 pages against 7,300 for each color, but black also carries the bulk of everyday document printing, so it is the cartridge departments burn through with the least warning. Keeping the extra as a black spare means the most common failure — a faded report run at the end of the month — is a two-minute swap instead of a rush order.

How does the $258.67 price compare with the 4-color set?

The 4-color set is $209.47, so the step up to this 5-piece set is $49.20 for the additional cartridge — noticeably less than the $67.69 a single 034K costs on its own listing. Averaged across all five cartridges the set works out to $51.73 each. As with the smaller set, we do not add the family ratings into one total; the black is rated at 12,000 pages and each color at 7,300, and each empties on its own schedule.

Who is a set this size actually for?

Offices running a 034-family machine as shared infrastructure — the device a whole floor prints, copies and scans through — where a toner outage idles more than one person. For a lightly used machine in a small office, the 4-color set or individual cartridges are the proportionate buy; five cartridges is stock for a machine whose printing cannot wait for deliveries.

What if one cartridge in the set prints badly?

Each cartridge is covered individually by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — a bad cartridge does not mean returning the whole set. These are compatible cartridges built to the 034K, 034C, 034M and 034Y specifications, not Canon-made, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST to sort out which cartridge is at fault. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page.

How should the spare be stored until it is needed?

Sealed, flat, and somewhere cool and dry, away from sunlight and heat. Write the arrival month on the box and use the oldest stock first. A cartridge kept that way waits patiently; there is no benefit to installing it before the running cartridge actually fades.
