Frequently Asked Questions

Why does yellow run out without anyone noticing?

Yellow is nearly invisible on white paper, so a fading supply rarely announces itself in the output the way black or cyan does. The first symptom is usually washed-out greens and dull, greyish photos rather than any obvious streaking. This TN436Y holds 6,500 pages of yellow at $33.88, so replacements are rare enough that the subtlety rarely becomes a problem.

What are the warning signs that yellow is nearly gone?

Watch for greens turning muddy, highlights losing warmth, and color pages that look oddly cold even though cyan and magenta read fine. The printer's own low-toner message will also name the yellow cartridge directly. Swapping in a fresh TN436Y restores the full color mix in one change.

Which printers use the TN436Y?

The cartridge fits the HL-L8360CDW, HL-L8360CDWT, HL-L9310CDW, MFC-L8900CDW and MFC-L9570CDW. The same machines accept the TN433 colors at 4,000 pages and the TN439 colors at 9,000 pages, and yellow swaps on its own without disturbing the other cartridges.

Is 6,500 pages of yellow good value next to the TN433Y?

The TN433Y is rated at 4,000 pages; stepping to this tier adds 2,500 pages — over 60% more — and brings the cost to roughly 0.52¢ per page at $33.88. For a color printer in daily use, that means the quiet color is also the one you think about least.

Do I need to change anything else when I swap the yellow?

No other consumable is tied to it. The separate DR890 drum unit is rated around 30,000 pages and is replaced on its own schedule, only when the printer calls for it — a toner change like this one is a standalone, two-minute job.

How am I covered if this cartridge disappoints?

It carries a 1-year warranty, with free returns during the first year as set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from IL, PA, GA, and CA, and you can reach support Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.
