Frequently Asked Questions

My black cartridge still has plenty left — can I refresh just the three colours?

Yes, and that is exactly the situation this box is built for. Colour cartridges rarely empty in step with the black, and on this platform the three colours also tend to fade within a few weeks of each other. The TN433 3 Color Set replaces cyan, magenta and yellow together at 4,000 rated pages apiece, while your black — very likely a TN433BK with life still in it — stays where it is. Nothing in the printer asks you to change all four at once.

Is there a black cartridge hidden in this set?

There is not, and we would rather say so plainly here than have you find out at the printer. This is a colours-only box: one TN433C, one TN433M and one TN433Y, each the genuine high-yield colour cartridge rated at 4,000 pages. If your black is also near the end, it is a separate cartridge — the TN433BK — and the four-cartridge set on this page's family shelf bundles it in. Buying this set to save money and then discovering the black is missing helps nobody.

What does the set save against three single colour cartridges?

Real money, for once. The three singles — TN433C, TN433M and TN433Y — are $166.49 each on this site, $499.47 the set of three. This box is $430.00, so the saving is $69.47, which works out to $143.33 a cartridge instead of $166.49. Against the set's $645.00 list price the gap is wider still. The saving is identical whichever colour you price first, because all three singles carry the same ticket.

How do these yields compare with the standard TN431 colours?

Generously. The TN431 colour cartridges for these same printers are rated at 1,800 pages; every cartridge in this box is rated at 4,000. That is better than two standard cartridges' worth of colour in each slot, with one changeover instead of two. If your machine came home with TN431 colours fitted and they seemed to vanish quickly, this set is the upgrade path Brother built into the platform — same slots, same fit, more than double the fill.

Which printers does this colour set fit?

The ten-model TN431/TN433 colour platform: the HL-L8260CDW, HL-L8360CDW, HL-L8360CDWT, HL-L9310CDW, HL-L9310CDWT and HL-L9310CDWTT printers, plus the MFC-L8610CDW, MFC-L8900CDW, MFC-L9570CDW and MFC-L9570CDWT all-in-ones. The surest check takes ten seconds — read the code on a colour cartridge already in the machine. TN433-anything is a direct refill; TN431-anything means these are the high-yield replacements for the same slots.

How do returns and the warranty work on a three-cartridge set?

The set carries a 30-day return window in all cases — send it back within 30 days of delivery if it is not right — and each cartridge is covered by Brother's own manufacturer warranty, as genuine stock should be. Full wording lives on our shipping and returns page. Sets ship from the closest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and the support desk answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Genuine Brother TN433 3 Color Set

Three genuine high-yield colour cartridges — TN433C, TN433M and TN433Y, 4,000 pages each — for the HL-L8260CDW through MFC-L9570CDWT platform, at $430.00 against a $645.00 list and $69.47 under the three singles bought apart. No black in the box, by design. The singles and the four-cartridge set sit alongside it in the Brother range at Clever Supplies.
