Frequently Asked Questions

This is my first cartridge change — how hard is it?

On this platform it is a two-minute job: open the front cover, slide out the drum tray, lift the old black cartridge from its slot, click this TN433BK in until it seats, slide the tray back and close the cover. No tools, no settings to change — the printer recognizes the new cartridge and resets its page counter itself.

What should I do with the new cartridge before installing it?

Remove all the packaging and protective covers, then gently rock the cartridge side to side a few times to distribute the toner evenly. That one step prevents a first page that looks light on one side, and it is the step first-timers most often skip.

How much printing does this first replacement give me?

This is the high-yield TN433 black, rated up to 4,500 pages at 5% coverage — about 0.73¢ per page at its $32.65 price. That is considerably more than the starter cartridge most printers ship with, so your second cartridge typically outlasts your first by a wide margin.

Which printers does this cartridge go into?

This TN433 black cartridge fits Brother's TN431/TN433 color laser platform: HL-L8260CDW, HL-L8360CDW, HL-L8360CDWT, HL-L9310CDW, HL-L9310CDWT, HL-L9310CDWTT, MFC-L8610CDW, MFC-L8900CDW, MFC-L9570CDW and MFC-L9570CDWT

My printer came with a TN431 — can I really upgrade to this?

Yes. The TN431 and TN433 share the same platform and the same slots; the TN433 is simply the high-yield version. Upgrading at your first replacement is the most common move owners of this platform make, and the printer needs no adjustment to accept it.

What if I run into trouble after installing?

You are covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — see our shipping & returns policy. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and a real person is available 9 AM–5 PM CST to walk you through anything.
