Frequently Asked Questions

Three small cartridges and one drum — what pattern of use is that proportion built around?

Light but steady printing on a single machine whose drum has come due. Three TN420 cartridges hold 3,600 pages between them; the DR420 drum fitted with the first is rated at 12,000 pages, so the imaging side is settled for a span covering these three and roughly seven more. It is the shape of order for the home-office printer or branch fax that works every day without ever working hard — the renewal happens once, and the cartridge shelf is stocked for the changes that follow at their unhurried pace.

Why not simply buy the high-yield TN450 three times instead?

For heavier use, you should — the TN450's 2,600-page rating lowers both the change frequency and the cost per page, and this drum accepts it happily. The case for the TN420 is about outlay and rhythm: its cartridges cost less each, which suits machines that print a few hundred pages a month and owners who prefer small, frequent purchases to larger ones. Neither choice is wrong; they are answers to different volumes. This bundle is the standard-cartridge answer, honestly labeled.

What does this size cost next to its parts?

Less than the parts, by a clear margin. Three TN420 cartridges at $68.41 and one DR420 drum at $140.33 total $345.56 at this store; the bundle is $305.57, saving $39.99, and it sits $122.23 under the $427.80 combined list price. So the convenience of the single matched parcel costs nothing extra here — in this family, the bundle is simply the cheaper way to buy the same genuine parts.

Which machine is this set for?

One device from Brother's long-lived compact mono generation: the HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW or HL-2280DW printers; the DCP-7060D or DCP-7065DN; the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN or MFC-7460DN; or the Intellifax 2840 or 2940 fax machines. All four pieces belong to that single machine — two printers are better served by the matched-pairs size in this family.

How should the two waiting cartridges be kept?

Sealed in their bags, stored flat in a cool, dry drawer, away from sunlight and heat. Toner waits patiently under those conditions for as long as light-duty use takes to reach it. Fit cartridges in the order they arrived, rocking each gently side to side first so the powder distributes evenly, and when the drum is fitted at the cycle's start, reset its counter through the machine's menu and slide the corona-wire tab as the manual describes.

What protection comes with this bundle?

Deliveries of genuine Brother products here carry 30 days from arrival to return an item, with returns accepted in all cases inside that period, and Brother's manufacturer warranty provides the cover afterwards. Problems are best raised promptly — support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — and a faulty piece is dealt with individually. The full policy text is on the shipping and returns page.
