Frequently Asked Questions

What does each page cost on the SCX-5739 with this cartridge?

About 0.78 cents in toner: the MLT-D205L costs $39.02 and is rated at 5,000 pages at standard coverage. That is the figure to use when costing the SCX-5739's monthly output — and the benchmark the five-pack beats, at roughly 0.48 cents a page.

Is the 5,000-page rating achievable in real office use?

For ordinary office pages, yes — the rating is taken at 5% coverage, which letters, memos and invoices approximate. Sustained heavy work — dense tables, shaded forms, graphics — uses more toner per page and finishes the cartridge sooner; nobody's cartridge is faulty when that happens.

Standard MLT-D205S or this high-yield cartridge — which suits the SCX-5739?

The D205S is rated around 2,000 pages; this MLT-D205L carries 5,000 in the same housing and works out cheaper per page. For a multifunction in daily service the high-yield is the natural pick; the standard cartridge makes sense only for a machine that prints rarely.

Prints are coming out pale — what should we check first?

Rock the cartridge gently side to side and print a test page. If the blacks return, the toner was simply low and unevenly distributed, and a replacement should be ordered; if a defect repeats at the same interval down the page instead, suspect the MLT-R205 drum unit rather than the cartridge.

Which other machines share this cartridge?

The ML-3310D, ML-3312, ML-3710, ML-3710DW, ML-3712 and ML-3712ND printers and the SCX-4833FR, SCX-4835, SCX-5637FN, SCX-5639HR, SCX-5737 and SCX-5737FW multifunctions, among others across the Samsung workgroup range.

What warranty and free-returns cover is included?

A twelve-month warranty, with returns free of charge across the same twelve months if the cartridge leaks, streaks or fails. The shipping and returns page has the details; orders ship from IL, PA, GA and CA, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
