Frequently Asked Questions

How should a five-pack be worked through so no cartridge sits too long?

First in, first out. Fit the cartridges in the order they arrived, keep the remaining ones sealed and flat in a cool, dry cupboard, and start the next only when the fitted one has truly faded for good. With five MLT-D205L cartridges at 5,000 pages each, the last in line may wait some months — sealed toner tolerates that waiting without any loss of quality, so rotation is about tidiness rather than urgency.

What does each cartridge in the box work out to?

$24.23 — the box is $121.13 for five, against $39.02 if the same MLT-D205L is bought one at a time. That is $73.97 saved over the pack's life and a toner cost of roughly 0.48 cents a page instead of 0.78 cents, applied to all 25,000 pages the box contains.

Will sealed cartridges still be good when their turn comes?

Yes. Toner is a dry powder in a sealed cartridge; stored away from heat, damp and direct sunlight it keeps for years, and a unit fitted long after delivery prints like a fresh one. The sensible checks are the simple ones — bag unopened, box undamaged — and if a long-stored cartridge ever did misbehave on fitting, it stands under the same per-cartridge cover as the rest.

Can this box supply machines other than the SCX-4833HD?

It can supply the whole platform. The MLT-D205L also fits the ML-3310, ML-3310D and ML-3310ND, the ML-3312, ML-3312D and ML-3312ND, the ML-3710 and ML-3712 ranges, and the SCX-4833, SCX-4835, SCX-4835FR, SCX-5639FR and SCX-5737 multifunctions — so the five are a shared pool, not a single machine's private stock.

What happens if a cartridge partway through the pack proves faulty?

That cartridge alone is returned, free, within its year — cover is per unit, with a one-year warranty on each, so the rest of the pack is untouched by one bad cartridge. Fitting its successor is also the test: clean output from the next unit confirms the fault left with the old one. The shipping and returns page covers the steps for sending it back.

Does a toner stock like this change anything else about running the machine?

The drum still runs on its own schedule. The MLT-R205 is a separate, longer-lived consumable, listed on its own in our Samsung toner range; this pack is toner only. We ship it from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
