Frequently Asked Questions

My B411DN prints are coming out faded and streaky — is the cartridge the problem?

Often, yes. The classic end-of-life pattern for the 44574701 cartridge is output that grows lighter, develops white streaks down the page, or fades along one edge. Before buying anything, take the cartridge out and rock it gently from side to side — that redistributes the remaining toner and often restores decent print for a while. If the fading returns within a few dozen pages, the cartridge is genuinely spent.

How can I tell whether it is the cartridge or the printer?

Print a plain test page after rocking the cartridge. If density improves noticeably, the issue was low, settled toner. If the same defect repeats in exactly the same position on every page regardless of rocking, that points more toward the printer or its drum unit than the toner. Swapping in a fresh 44574701 is the fastest way to isolate it: defects that vanish with a new cartridge were the cartridge.

What is the correct cartridge for the B411DN?

The 44574701 black cartridge, rated at 4,000 pages and priced at $28.45 — about 0.71 cents per page. The same cartridge also fits the MB461 MFP, MB471, MB471W, B411d, and B431d, so a shared spare works across those machines too.

Will a compatible cartridge fix the fading as well as an original?

Yes — fading is a symptom of an empty cartridge, not of brand. A fresh compatible 44574701 restores full density, and it is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the terms on our shipping and returns page. If a brand-new cartridge still prints light, that tells you the fault lies elsewhere and support can help you narrow it down.

My prints are fine but I see loose toner dust inside the printer. Should I worry?

A light dusting near the cartridge bay is normal over a cartridge's life and wipes away with a dry cloth. Heavy deposits or toner spilling when you remove the cartridge are not normal — that cartridge should be replaced rather than reinstalled, since a leaking cartridge will keep contaminating the paper path.

Where does the replacement ship from?

From the closest stocked warehouse among our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and California locations. If your B411DN is already showing fade symptoms, ordering before it stops completely avoids a gap. Our support team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and more options are listed on our Okidata toner page.
