Frequently Asked Questions

Several of us share this 2420DN — who notices when the toner is low?

Whoever prints the supplies status page or opens the printer's built-in web page sees the gauge first, but the honest signal is on paper: output turning uniformly pale. On a networked machine it pays to keep this listing bookmarked, because a shared Q6511A empties on everybody's schedule, not one person's.

Is the cartridge for the DN the same as for the plain 2420?

Yes — one part number, Q6511A (the 11A), serves the entire 2420 range. The letters after the model name describe paper handling and networking, never a different toner bay.

Can I change it without holding up the print queue?

Easily. Jobs already spooled simply wait the two minutes the swap takes. Open the top cover, exchange the cartridge, close the cover, and the HP LaserJet resumes where it left off — nobody needs to resend anything.

How long should 6,000 pages last a small team?

For a workgroup printing everyday office documents, think in terms of a season rather than a month. Coverage is the swing factor: a team printing bold presentation pages will land short of the rating, while a correspondence-heavy team can pass it.

Where should the spare live in a shared office?

In its sealed box, upright, in the same room as the printer if possible. Heat and direct sun shorten a stored cartridge's good temper, and an unopened Q6511A waits patiently for a long time when it is kept cool, dry and flat-stacked with nothing heavy on top.

What cover do we get with it?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind every cartridge, and support answers Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST if a shared machine starts producing mysteries you want a second opinion on.

About This Cartridge for the LaserJet 2420DN

The LaserJet 2420dn is the networked, duplexing member of its family, usually parked where a whole team can reach it. This single 11A cartridge — 6,000 pages, $45.76 — is the no-ceremony way to keep that shared asset fed: no bundle to split between departments, no stockroom accounting.

Your order ships from the nearest stocked warehouse among IL, PA, GA and CA; timings and the returns route are spelled out on the shipping & returns page, and the rest of the family's supplies sit under HP.
