Frequently Asked Questions

What's inside?

The full 504A row for the CM3530 MFP: CE250A black, CE251A cyan, CE252A yellow and CE253A magenta, each cartridge sealed on its own inside the carton. The set costs $125.76, and buying the row in one carton is what keeps a shared departmental machine from sitting idle over a single empty color.

Why does a department MFP burn through black so quickly?

Because everything lands on it. Print jobs from a dozen desks, walk-up copies, incoming faxes — the black cartridge serves all of it. The CE250A's rating is 5,000 pages, and on a busy CM3530mfp that number arrives faster than the same cartridge would in a personal printer.

And the color ratings?

Each color is rated higher than the black: CE251A cyan, CE252A yellow and CE253A magenta are all quoted at 7,000 pages. Unless your department prints color constantly, the colors will typically outlast two black changes — replace them on their own schedule, not the black's.

Who should keep track of levels on a shared machine?

Whoever sits nearest, ideally. The practical pattern is one named person checking the supplies page weekly; when a cartridge crosses into low, the replacement from this set goes in and the reorder happens then — not when the machine stops mid-morning with a queue behind it.

Are the four cartridges interchangeable between slots?

No. Each code belongs to one position: CE250A black, CE251A cyan, CE252A yellow, CE253A magenta. The cartridges are keyed to their slots, so a color cannot be seated in the wrong place — if a cartridge will not seat smoothly, check the code against the slot label rather than pushing harder.

What if a new cartridge still shows low?

Remove it, rock it gently side to side to redistribute the toner, and reseat it firmly until it clicks. Then print a supplies status page. A cartridge that genuinely fails to register after reseating is a warranty conversation, and this set is covered — see the note below.
